Command at Sea

Command at Sea – the pinnacle of a Naval Officer’s career.

The Navy established The Command at Sea insignia in 1960 for commissioned officers who are in, or have been in, command of a commissioned warship or submarine, an operational fleet air unit, or a SEAL command.

The six stars on the insignia represent the first six ships of the United States Navy: USS United States, USS Constellation, USS Constitution, USS President, USS Congress, and USS Chesapeake.
